Cheap Car Insurance for Young Women

Car insurance is no fun to get.  It's something you don't really want to spend on, but unlike health insurance, it really isn't optional.  Driving a car requires that you have, at the very least, liability insurance, so if you are out on the road and cause an accident, you'll have someone who is able to pay the damages for the other person's car, if not your own.  There are a few options for getting car insurance, and each cover different levels of things.  The most basic one to have - and a requirement to drive a car on public roads - is liability insurance.  This basically states that any damages done to the other car while you're on the road are to be paid by your insurance company.

If you pay more, you can also have your own car insured too.  This could be basic collision services or it could cover other types of accidents like theft or fire, or it could cover your health expenses if you were in the car at the time of the accident or anyone else in the car at the time of the accident.  This will undoubtedly cost more.  The cost is further determined by who you are and the risk you are deemed to pose to the insurance company.  This is determined mostly by your driving record, previous crashes, tickets, as well as a few bits of information about demographics.

First, obviously, the cost of your vehicle.  If you have, such as I do, a wonderful little 1996 Toyota Camry that is made mostly of rust but is in decent working condition, you will get a much lower insurance payment than the owner of an Italian sports car.  Granted, a car that wasn't fancy, flashy, or expensive and was also in better shape than my Camry would likely pay less than me.  An area that is difficult for insurance companies are various social demographics that financially make sense, but can appear discriminatory to anyone looking from the outside in.  Therefore, rates can't be judged by some things such as race, but can be judged by others such as gender.

Men in general drive more than women do, and as such, are going to get higher car insurance rates.  Because there are laws against gender discrimination, this only applies to younger drivers.  Teenagers and young'uns get higher rates specifically because statistically, they have a tendency to get into more crashes and drive more recklessly.  Fortunately, it's still possible to get cheap car insurance for young women.  Young women in general are less aggressive on the road than men (this is a stereotype, yes, but often the insurance companies need to take these stereotypes into consideration as a betting game), so they will get lower rates.  It also helps to be married.

Generally, you're going to see elevated rates from the ages of 16 to 25, as these are the highest risk periods.  Once you get past that, the rates go down over time, as you are likely to be a more cautious and sensible driver, as well as that you'll have significantly more experience.  If you go through various training courses, you can expect to save some money on car insurance as well.  You're also better off getting good grades in school.

Cheap car insurance for young women, therefore, is relatively easy to get, though not as easy as getting it in your later years.  Basically, here's what I suggest:

Get good grades in school and always drive around the speed limit - generally you're safe at 5-10 over, but police officers start looking for you to speed at about 11 over.  They also give out more tickets at the end of the month, though they refuse to admit to having quotas.  Also, it helps not to get into any crashes - though technically, getting in one is okay as long as you didn't cause it, though this might affect your health insurance.  It also helps to be later into your twenties.  Teens pay more.  If you've been driving longer, however, there are a few things you can do to get the rate down, like taking driving courses.
